B.E. Lookbook 2016
Brilliant Earth specializes in ethically-sourced diamond jewelry. Each spring, they release a lookbook to showcase new and popular product. For an in-house designer, it is an opportunity to introduce new design concepts that will set the tone for the following year. For the last several years, Brilliant Earth had branded itself using product imagery that displayed its rings on flowers or leaves. While conceptually rich, the execution of this approach had grown stale and the bulk of their marketing assets with it. I wanted to offer a new spin on this concept for 2016.
Logo Development & Collateral
Partners Robert Aubrey McMillan and Marcus Maxwell Keller approached me to create a logo and collateral to represent their new home staging and interior design company, AUBREYMAXWELL. Supplied with a concept statement and a Pinterest board for visual inspiration, I explored a spectrum of themes over several rounds, hitting the nail on the head with this final design.
PALECEK.COM Design & Development
Palecek is a major furniture and home decor manufacturer located in Richmond, California. When they became a regular client of mine over seven years ago, their website served more as a function-oriented intranet than a brand-conscious representation of their product and company. They gave me nothing short of total freedom to create the visual image I envisioned for Palecek.com and corresponding web-based collateral. Shown above is the current iteration that I designed and developed over the course of 2012 and launched in 2013 based on the company’s expanding needs for a beautiful and elegantly functioning website.
PALECEK 40th Anniversary Catalog
Palecek, a major furniture and home decor manufacturer located in Richmond, California, has been a regular client of mine for over seven years. Recession cutbacks forced their marketing department to trim back on elaborate spending and place most of their design needs in my hands. I’ve enjoyed the challenge of creating and maintaining their brand integrity within a limited budget, and am very proud of the catalogs, magazine ads, mailers, web-based materials and signage I’ve had art direction over. The 40th Anniversary Palecek Furniture & Accessories Catalog you see above, as well as the Palecek website (featured separately), are representative of the total body of work.
Wolf & Crow is a folk duo from San Francisco who weave together american-roots blues, bluegrass, and folk to create their unique "HiFi LoFi" sound. I wanted to create a visual aesthetic that mirrors the tone and character of their music, so I chose a clean, contemporary layout that would not impinge on the content, then created rich, beautiful, full-bleed images that capture a rustic, primitive-american quality.

California Diamonds Concert Promo
California Diamonds is a folk duo whose music simulates the experience of looking through a magical lens into a past tinted by melancholy and reverie. My intention with this promo device was to find imagery that has a dreamy, time-capsule vibe. My visual research took me into photos of 70's era communes. I feel they have a essence of child-like exploration and hope, but one that is trapped in the bubble of time, and seems very foreign to the present day.
I discovered that nudity was a common thread in this archival material. The lack of clothing to me symbolized both a garden-of-eden innocence and a rebellious freedom. The naturalistic aesthetic is a bold celebration against the oppressive force of long-held puritanical ideologies in our culture. I felt drawn to these specific images, liking how they demonstrate the sacred geometry of the human form, embodying a timeless, paganistic, celestial quality.
